date of 2/6/78 at Wycombe
town hall is correct. My wife Colleen asked me ,Tim ,out atthat gig.She was
a 14 year old punk in full Siouxsie make up, doc martins, fishnets, the works!
I was ,according to her a 16
year old Paul Simenon lookalike!! Her immortal chat up line was " Ere
you going to see the Clash at Friars?" We did go to the Clash gig and
are still together, still listening to punk and celebrate the Penetration gig
date as our anniversary. Think Scottish band,The Jolt supported. They played
on despite gob, lager and abuse raining down on them! cheers

Derek Ridgers recalls two "hard cases"
on the council estate in Feltham he lived in, involved in chucking mud at
Sikh families' windows etc. He invited them to a Penetration gig at Brunel
University. "There was an intensely ominous and dangerous atmosphere
when we arrived, due to the large number of skinheads present. About three
songs in, a mob of about 30 of them invaded the stage, attacked the band and
trashed their equipment. The gig was abandoned. I was in the middle of the
melee taking photos, but the two hard cases from my estate spent the whole
time cowering at the back. They were completely silent on the drive home.
It was the first and last gig they ever agreed to go to with me. And our problems
on the estate ended almost overnight."

15-Cambridge, Corn Exchange:Back in December 78 I saw
my 1st band at Cambridge corn exchange, yes it was Penetration. I was just
14 yrs old and a school mate also wanted to go but his parents wouldn't let
him. I took with me an ad for moving targets from nme hoping to get it signed
and we snuck in round the back (remarkably easily) and I have Pauline and
Fred's signature on it. It's always been the pride of my scrapbook.

16- London, Thames Poly Thames
Poly gig in November 1978 definitely wasn't cancelled - I was there!
( It was moved to Dec 16th) Still got half a ticket stub from it somewhere,
support bands were The Pack and Gang of Four. I thought the live stuff on
the Danger Signs single was recorded there. (True-Ed!)..The
only things I can really remember from the night were that the Pack had to
persuade their drummer not to leave half way through their set and that the
Gang of Four singer got hit in the eye by the gobbing masses! Philip
