safehouse 5
supported
Penetration
at Trillians, Newcastle
on 28th February 2002
We're all the wrong side of thirty now - we always thought rock'n'roll was a young man's game, then we stopped being young men and had to consider our options : stay in every night atrophying in front of the telly? pretend to like football?
For a start there's five of us,and they are :
Albert, bass guitar.
Derek DeScale
, rhythm guitar.
Ross Head
, the drums.
Johnny Sparkes, lead guitar.
And me - "Ettrick Scott" to my parents, "Skotty" to everyone else, I do the singing.
This gig is a major thrill for us - years ago, I was in a band that supported Pauline Murray and The Storm at Newcastle Riverside. That was an excellent gig, and that was when I realised just how popular Pauline and Penetration still are, so playing at their reunion show is something we're all well excited about. They're good people too, which always helps.
So,that's our biog and you're left none the wiser ! I think we're a top live band and I'd go and see us, but I realise that that's a biased opinion... see you all on the 28th, it's gonna be one of those nights... (Skotty)

Just to add here that i enjoyed the support very much and would like to know more about them. Have you got a website yet Safehouse Five? I particularly like the track Don't Scare The Horses (is that the right title? ). Is this track one of your own? Great gig though and a great warm-up, thanks again.

sell your soul and start a club band for the money and the ego-strokes? accquire a taste for DIY? F**k all that for a lark ! So we started safehouse 5 instead. No agenda, no pressure.

Aye,but what do you sound like ?
It's a rock band, with loud guitars, and, in all honesty - we sound like us.

If I listened to the songs and all I could hear was another band, then I'd leave ! we LIKE the stooges, the ramones, the stones, the clash, elvis, primal scream, buffalo tom, alabama 3, nick cave and the pogues (amongst others) but we don't sound like 'em.
